Chiropractic Referral Service

Find a Doctor

For Medical Doctors

For nearly 20 years working with auto injuries, Pacific Coast Injury Network (PCIN) has continued to grow as a highly respected choice for injury care and treatment among both the legal and medical communities of California.

Medical doctors are finding the non-drug, non-surgical approaches of manual treatments to be an excellent adjunct to musculoskeletal care.

Because Doctors of Chiropractic are trained through a highly developed educational system that is regulated to a great degree, they are required to refer patients on to the appropriate health care provider if a condition is found that is not subject to appropriate treatment by chiropractic methods or techniques. You can always rest assured knowing that your patients will be treated with the most professional and applicable care.

Our chiropractors will work with you as a team in coordinating your patients’ treatment plan of conservative care in variety of areas such as restoring joint mobility, chronic neck and back pain, osteoarthritis pain, personal injury and workers compensation care and reporting. Our Doctors of Chiropractic provide appropriate reporting keeping a strong flow of communication open.

Pacific Coast Injury Network is proud of a long history partnering with medical doctors to ensure that patients are receiving the benefits of both worlds as part of their treatment plans. In addition to all the basic areas that chiropractors specialize, PCIG offers other highly specialized areas of treatments, training and certifications which are detailed below.

Our chiropractors are available to you and your patients and welcome your call. For your added convenience, we offer a prescription form for you to print and complete to start your patients’ care.

Active Release Techniques

Treating your patients who suffer from overuse and soft tissue injuries

As healthcare providers you no doubt encounter many patients with various soft tissue and overuse injuries (often associated with athletes and people involved in repetitive motion jobs). As medical professionals you know that there are various treatment options available including massage, acupuncture, ultrasound and electrical modalities.

Even more effective than these treatment options is ART, Active Release Techniques. ART is a highly developed, refined, and patented technique. This technique is so effective that it is now used by nearly all NFL teams for treating their athletes. For a provider to become certified in ART they must have participated in special training to learn approximately 300 different treatment moves (protocols) and learn how to evaluate and diagnose individual tissues for texture, tension and range of motion. These treatment protocols are unique to ART and allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient.

ART providers are highly skilled and trained in treating acute conditions such as, over-used muscles (and other soft tissues) which have occurred either quickly (through pulls, tears or crushes). Additionally chronic injuries, over a period of time (accumulated such as small micro-trauma), or as a result of the tissues not receiving the proper levels of oxygen (hypoxia), are also treated effectively with ART.

ART Providers have dedicated a tremendous amount of time to training and therefore are unique in the medical community.

For your convenience, you may print and complete our prescription form to add ART to your patients’ injury treatment and rehabilitation plan.

MedX

Comprehensive rehabilitation with measurable results

MedX is a comprehensive rehabilitation program that incorporates the sports medicine approach to the treatment of chronic neck and back pain. A key component is the patented MedX equipment, developed by the founder of the Nautilus exercise equipment. MedX machines are specially designed to provide the most effective means of isolating, safely testing, and directly strengthening the muscles in the low back and neck.

The program’s primary goals are to improve range of motion, improve muscle strength, decrease pain, and return the patient to normal function. The entire program generally takes 15-20 minutes, twice a week for 8 weeks.

MedX Cervical and Lumbar Extension machines are proven to assist patients recovering from chronic back pain and neck pain, even after multiple failed attempts at other forms of therapy, including spine surgery. Other conditions often successfully treated by MedX include, whiplash injuries, degenerative disc disease and bulging discs.

MedX has over 40 published articles in peer-reviewed medical journals including the University of Florida and University of California San Diego which published research proving the efficacy of specific spine strengthening.

MedX is considered the gold standard for specific spine strengthening and rehabilitation and Pacific Coast Injury Group is proud to offer it through one of our chiropractic member offices. For more information on how MedX can assist your patients, or to tour the state of the art facility, visit your Poway/Scripps Ranch MedX specialist Dr. Larry Herring, Doctor of Chiropractic.

Pregnancy Care

Specialized treatment for your pre and post natal patients

As Obstetricians and Gynecologists, you know that during pregnancy a woman’s center of gravity shifts to the front of her pelvis. This additional weight causes stress to the joints of the pelvis and low back and studies have found that about half of all expectant mothers develop low-back pain at some point during their pregnancies.

Besides low back pain (more often right side over left) other common problems pregnant women may experience is sacroiliitis pain, (SI joint pain), sciatica, mid-back pain (along the bra line), headaches and neck pain, pubic symphysis pain, carpal tunnel syndrome (secondary to pregnancy), round ligament strains, swelling in the lower legs, calf cramps and foot pain (plantar fasciitis). Most of these conditions can be helped with chiropractic care and various therapies.

When choosing a chiropractor for your patients, look for a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy treatment and care who can provide adjustments, as well as offer nutritional, ergonomic and exercise advice to help address the special needs of the expectant mother. Choosing an appropriate chiropractor as part of your patient’s treatment plan should include knowing that a good percentage of their practice is dedicated to pregnant patients, that they work with various birthing methods such as doulas and midwives and that they are well respected in the medical community of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Pacific Coast Injury Network member Dr. Dalya Rubanenko is a specialist in pregnancy care and invites you to join her as a partner in your patient’s treatment and care.
